well if you are making a ring.. just wrap it around someones finger and make a normal knot (try not to make it too tight) and then cut off the long pieces

The outer cover may be applied when the latex is pre-stressed, so that the cord’s resistance to extension is already significant at the cord’s natural length. This gives a harder, sharper bounce.
